How many POP3 accounts can I have in one account?

It depends on the plan you choose.

Do you offer Cold Fusion hosting?

Yes. We offer Cold Fusion 4.5.1 Enterprise hosting at no additional charge only on our US based Servers.

Are we planning to upgrade to Cold Fusion 5?

We have no immediate or near future plans to upgrade any of our web servers to Cold Fusion 5.

What is your connection to the Internet?

We are connected to a multipeer T3 backbone. We have the capacity to burst up to 100Mbits of data per second.

How do I transfer a .com, .net, or .org domain to your services?

First, you will need to know what your account status is for your domain. 

This is probably at one of the following: networksolutions.com, register.com, domains4free.com, as well as many others. 

Second, you will need to view your domain account information wherever your domain is registered at (Once again, probably at one of the above or you may try http://checkdomain.com). 

On this page there will be your DNS information. (Example ns5.bombaybiz.com 203.199.107.87). 

You will need to replace the DNS information on this page with the DNS we provide you.

After that submit the changes (via Submit Button on bottom of page or other button), and you are done. 

Important: This may take up to 2-3 days to complete. When you submit the changes, it sends an email to 
the current DNS holder, your domain holder must wait for the current DNS holder to reply with a 'yes' before 
they can proceed with the domain transfer. 

Do you support international domains & .co.in domains?

We are able to host most international domains.

Can I get a dialup account with you?

 No, we specialize in web hosting. You will need to get dialup access through your local ISP.

Is there a way to see my website at BombayBiz before the DNS info for my domain is resolved?

Yes, you can upload via the IP which we will provide you. Your domain after resolving would be automatically  mapped to the same physical directory where you would be uploading the pages.

How do I change the quota of an existing FTP account?

Contact a Support Executive and he would increase the quota for you .

What about ASP sendmail stuff?

ASPEMail and JMail are supported. CDONTS is not supported.

Why don't you support CDONTS ? 

We use IMail server on most of our Windows based servers, To run IMail Default SMTP provided with Windows has to be stopped in the IIS.  CDONTS stops working if the default SMTP is stopped. We use 3rd party Componets like ASPEMAIL & JMail which work exactly or maybe better than CDONTS , both these Components used their own SMTP , so they work even if Default SMTP is stopped.

Can I serve WAP content at BombayBiz?

Yes. All of the BombayBiz web servers have the proper WAP MIME types installed.

 Can I have my own dns like dns.myname.com?

We offer dns.yourname and dns2.yourname.com with any of our accounts for 6,000 Rs./Year

What is the minimum contract length?

There is minimum contract length of 1 Year.

Will you guys edit my dns zone so I can use a different MX?

Yes we can edit any of your dns Zones including MX for 500 Rs.

Do you offer MS-SQL support?

Yes, we offer MS-SQL2000 database hosting.

Do you offer telephone technical support?

yes, as long as it is in the scope of hosting commitments.

How many domains does BombayBiz host?

We current host over 13,000.

Can we see some of the sites you host?

Most of our clients are virtual web hosting companies. We respect our clients, which means we do not use them to sell accounts to new customers.

Do you host .co.uk domains?

Yes, we host hundreds of .co.uk domains. We do not have an IPSTAG, so you will need to transfer your .co.uk to NOMINET. Then list our dns servers when you modify the domain directly through NOMINET.

Do you suport Java Servlets?

Yes we have TomCat 4.0.1 Installed 

Do you support JSP (java server pages)?

Yes we do 

Can I send bulk, yet target email using your servers?

No. We consider bulk email of any kind to be spam. We do not tolerate spam.

Can I try out an account for a while before I decide to buy?

No, we do not offer trial accounts, however we can offer trial accounts case to case.

Do I get telnet access?

No, but since these are Windows NT servers, there is no reason you will need telnet access.

Can my POP accounts be xyz@myname.com?

Yes. 

Can I forward all of the email from my domain to one email account?

Yes. 

Which version of Perl do you guys use?

We use the latest version from ActiveState.

What is the path to perl?

 You do not need to know the path to perl, since .pl is associated with perl on our Windows NT servers.

Can I set this up so www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com both map to the same place?

By default www.domain.com and domain.com always map to the same place.

Can I set it up so that subdomain.mydomain.com would map to a different subdirectory?

You can map subdomain.domain.com and somethingelse.com to other subdirectories within your account. 

How long have you been in business doing this?

We have been in business since June 1, 1997. We renamed our company to BombayBiz India Private Limited in June of 1999.

How do I make a simple text web counter?

Use SSI (server side includes). Use .shtml for the filename extension. Place <!--#totcnt--> in that page.

How do I create a custom 404 page?

Contact us, we would do that for you at no cost 

Do your servers have the runtimes for Visual Basic installed?

All of our servers have the VB5/VB6 runtimes installed. Additionally, we have installed most of the ActiveX components that ship with VB5.

Is there any additional fee for using ASP?

There is no additional fee for using ASP.

Do I put ASP and Cold Fusion pages in my cgi-bin?

No, ASP and Cold Fusion pages never belong in the cgi-bin. Place ASP and Cold Fusion pages in normal document directories. Only CGI programs such as those ending in .PL (perl scripts) or native Win32 .EXE programs belong in the cgi-bin directory.

Can I change my default page from index.html to default.asp?

The URL security utility only seems to accept the www addresses. Will the security applied to the www address also apply to the non www address?

It automatically applies to both.

Error: Connection with Host: header containing unknown local host name

That error means that the server config has not been refreshed since the site was added. When you add a new domain, it is perfectly normal to see a 400 error until the server refreshes.

Do you support VBScript 5 on your servers?

We are using the latest version of the MS scripting engine.

I cannot get the FileSystemObject to work. When I try to use it, I get the following error message: ActiveX component can't create object: 'Scripting.FileSystemObject'.

The FileSystemObject is permanently disabled for security reasons.

I cannot get the Dictionary Object to work. When I try to use it, I get the following error message: ActiveX component can't create object: 'Scripting.Dictionary'.

The FileSystemObject is permanently disabled for security reasons. The Dictionary object is located in the same DLL file as FileSystemObject, so Dictionary is disabled as well.

I cannot get the CFFile to work.

The CFFile tag is permanently disabled for security reasons.

How can we change email account passwords?

You can log to the control panel & change their own passwords at this time. We are currently rewriting that utility to work with our new email server software. 

You can log on to http://yourdomain.com:8383 and use the login and password that was provided to you , once logged on you can change the password yourself .

Do you guarantee a certain level of uptime?

No, we do not guarantee any specific quality of service. However, we have implemented a solution to provide uptime. Our load balancing solution will dynamically reroute traffic to other servers within the BombayBiz server farm if a server is having problems. All of the sites we host are able to benefit from this technology. Our web service uptime is currently 99.9%.

I want to set up my BombayBiz account using a brand-new domain name... who should I register with first, BombayBiz or Internic?

It does not matter. However, it is generally a good idea to register the domain at Internic as quickly as you can if you find a domain name that you would like to use that is currently available. That way you know you will own the domain name and will be able to use it.

How long does it typically take for a site to 'go live' after I register the domain with Internic and set up the domain at BombayBiz?

When you set up a domain at BombayBiz, it is set up immediately on our main server. Our clustered servers mirror the configuration details from the main server once per day, so it can take up to 24 hours for the clustered servers to grab the details for the new domain. Internic generally takes 24-48 hours to get new domains ready. 
Sometimes Internic will take longer than that, but most of the time Internic gets new domain ready in 24-48 hours.

Is there any way to have a cgi-bin for each domain under my account?

Yes, every domain you host at BombayBiz can have its own cgi-bin. When you create a new domain using the web control panel, the web control panel adds a cgi-bin mapping for the new site. All you need to do to use the cgi-bin mapping is create the physical cgi-bin directory in the directory that the new site is mapped to.

How do I let my customers manage the email accounts within their email domains?

If your account is Premium Level or above, you can sub delegate email account control for a given email domain. In the web control panel email admin, there is an option for setting the email domain's password. Once set, the customer can go to http://domainname.com:8383 or http://domainname.com:2095 and select Email Admin to do domain level administration.

How can I redirect one web page to another web page?

Within your html code, you can use a meta refresh tag. That will cause the browser to automatically redirect to the other page.
